a cup of …….ingredients
ok, so to actually share more of me with you, I will start sharing pics of my creative side and sharing recipes. My “plan” is to make tabs at the top of the main page. Now mind you I said my “plan” . I need to bust out my sister’s Word Press for Dummies book!!
so look for more of my ingredients soon!!
a cup of…….big boy
the big excitement yesterday was buying Gabe’s big boy bed. Thank goodness we have an IKEA here in Houston, because that is where we went. We got this cool twin size bed. It grows and expands into 3 different sizes. Right now its at toddler size, but can expand into a full length twin….too cool! here are some pics!
so we did bath, ate, and headed off to the big boy room. I read his favorite story and said it was time for night-night. He kept patting the spot next to him for me to come lay down with him. That had been our routine, but Im working on changing it…thanks to Super Nanny books and video from website! so he came out twice and I led him back in to bed. He then stayed in and fell asleep in 5 min. WOW! a record. So, me & the hubs sat and chilaxed out in the back with the monitor by my side with a big CUP of wine. There was a nice breeze for a Texas night. He was grilling and it was like old times!! then one more cup and hour later guess what? he woke up!! so I went back in and sat next to his bed until he fell back asleep (10 min.) I then had ANOTHER cup (not glass) of boxed wine and the hubs & I started watching a movie. (so fun!) then, at 10:30pm we heard him crying- and we watched him on the monitor. He grabbed the closest stuffed animal and headed towards our room. Totally fine, we are making progress…….we all slept great cuddled together!- i pretty much passed out…TOO much boxed wine..OOPS!!!
a cup of….family!
so, we took our extreme road trip in one day on Monday! at 6:15 am we left the house. I of course was rushing around and did not eat breakfast…no surprise. The night before (sunday night) my hubs, the “budget enforcer” said we will be bringing our own picnic style lunch on this day trip of ours. No problem, I am a fan of sandwiches, but it really reminded me of my parents. You know you ALWAYS wanted to go eat at the places at the amusement park, but your parents made you gt your hand stamped, and walk to the car for sandwiches. Well, thats EXACTLY what we did- “Griswold” style.- you know the Vacation movies…except luckily we didnt have dog pee all over our food!
So, I was up early that morning making the gourmet PB & J sandwiches for us. I had to make sure to use the dinosaur cutter for Gabe’s sandwich to make it more appealing than a Shamu happy meal! I got all of our bathing suits, towels, sunscreen, diapers, extra clothes, food, snacks, our parking pass, the season pass cards and drinks!! Whew! and…….my hubs got dressed & loaded the car. (big difference in responsibilities). We got gabe out of bed, changed his diaper, and put him in the car in his p.j.’s. Then we were on the road! Whoopee, we actually got out during the 6am hour! on the road singing & dancing along to classic Michael jackson- thanks to Anne for the burned cd’s.

on the road!
We stop at Buc-ees- (is that a Texas place?) it’s pretty much half-way to San Antonio. it was then that I realized I didnt pack any freaking shoes for gabe to wear once we got there….DANG IT!! (thats not what I really said). Ok, so now we would have to stop to buy him some shoes for the day.

no shoes!!!!???!??!!!
we were using my gps on my phone for directions and the hubs was confident we would just see signs along the way…well we got a little off the GPS track and stopped at Academy to go ahead and get shoes and ask for some directions. Now we are back on the road and got there in a flash!

im ready!

waiting for shamu

mother & daughter pair wearing funny shirts
the park was great! Gabe LOVES it and we saw 2 shows (shamu included) ate popcorn and sipped on freewater that I brought! we went to the gate- got our hands stamped and went to the car for the Griswold family picnic…in the car! Its too freakin hot to eat outside, so we ate it in the comfort of the car’s a/c. We changed into our bathing suits (in the car) and went back in to enjoy the waterpark. We had ALOT of fun! whenever I am in public and see what ladies wear to pools in public it sometimes makes me feel better about myself and the fact that I wear board shorts….( i know what these thighs look like)

the big man himself

the moochie-moo is poopie -poo'd
and by the way- at the waterpark…..those stupid $6.99 shoes BROKE!!!
a cup of…SHAMU!
We are going to Sea World in San Antonio at 6 am. tomorrow morning. We will hang out watch shows, go to the water park, then leave around 4pm to drive back home to Houston.

Last time we went was in March for Spring Break- perks of being a teacher (spring break & summers off). Gabe LOVED it!! We are so excited and havent told him yet that we are going….being 2- I dont think he would understand even if we did tell him! Here are some pics of the last time we went. the first one (above) is one of my fav. pics of my 2 guys- daddy & gabe in the aquarium. Then (below) is gabe on the way home. He fell asleep before we made it out of the park. ZZZzzzzzzz

a cup of….better late than never
sorry im posting a little late,
so I brought some stuff over to my friends garage sale today. I didnt have TOO much, but enough to get rid of. So, we were planning on opening at 8am, but you know people come at 7:30am and dig thru your stuff while you are setting up. Things are going well, and Im sweating since we are in the middle of a heat advisory. So,…Im thinking Im kida good at this. “wheelin and dealin”. even to the spanish speakers, I can get by enoguh to sell them something.
well, then a Spanish speaking family came. Im not hatin’ my hubs whole side all speak spanish. But they took advantage of the poor little white girl that didnt speak Spanish, bastages! They wanted some old sheets sets. Totally kept having the daughter translate that “this one was torn, this one didnthave a match…etc” so I said “fine $0.50 each” then came the napkin rings, the vase and the cd. all talked down to a lower price – which is expected- HELLO its a garage sale. So my BFF speaks spanish- you would never know by looking at her that she is Colombian. So she comes over and just listens- they dont know she “is down” with the “espanol”. They ask her a price for a towel, and she wont go down on price. they ask me to ask her, she still (in english) refuses to take less. so they leave without buying her towel and obviously are happy with ALL of my negotiated prices.
then she tells me….the translation of the conversation. She said they were saying to each other(about me)- “keep talking to her in spanish and act like you dont have the money then she will go down on the price” . that is why she was determined not to let them get their way with her towel. Had I known the evil spanish plan, I may have not been so nice. So maybe I am not cut out for the cut-throat world of garage sales, and spanish “pirates”!! how much did i make for 5 hours of sweating and dealin? $57….NOT ENOUGH!
a cup of ….addictions
ok, and not the “intervention” type addiction.
I am “addicted” to cookbooks. Those cookbooks at the grocery store, right before you check out. The Pillsbury ones or other themed ones- YES those!! I have a “collection” of them. Ones about cresent rolls, pot lucks, pasta dishes, mexican dishes, bake- offs, and Christmas entertaining- you name it, I probably have it! LOVE THOSE!!! I love to bake and try new things. Not so much “cook” but bake….YUMMY!! Dont get me wrong, I do cook, but i LOVE to bake!
I am “addicted” to Sonic drinks! Route 44 Diet Dr. Pepper! i LOVE those drinks and what makes them so special is the ICE….you know what Im talking about!! It’s that little rabbit pellet ice…its the BEST!!
I am “addicted” to Shipley’s plain glazed donuts. They have to be warm and fresh! I will eat just about any donut, I dont discriminate against donuts, but the best is having a warm glazed donut early in the morning!
I am now “addicted” to Twitter! yes, I walk around with my phone in hand, even at the grocery store. I like to talk to my sis, mom, dad, friends old and new! I REALLY like to see what the celebrity’s have to say. I have even tweeted them, but have never gotten a response. No, Im not a crazy stalker fan!!
and then comes the video games. I am “addicted” to WeddingDash and Diner Dash. I love wedding dash way more but found the Diner dash at half-price books. I have usd every free trial I could find of those games, and dont want to have to actually buy them (besides the half price books one) because i may never get off the computer! After buying the Diner Dash at Half-Price, my husband rarely saw my face because it was glued to my laptop screen. I have gotten up to level 10 and cant pass it, so it has lost some of it’s appeal.
what about you? any vices?
thanks for enjoying this cup of “me soup”
a cup of ……teachers & moms!
i am so glad you are visiting my little spot here. I dont have many words of wisdom, just mainly saying random thoughts, using too many commas and exclamation points and using run-on sentences. i know it’s sad im a teacher, BUT that is why i teach early childhood (pre-k & kinder).
i sit here in the kitchen on my fav. barstool. I can hear the dryer, sesame street and my 2 YO answering questions the muppets are asking. i see the condensation on the windows- knowing its WAY cooler inside than out.
Teaching-
funny thing about teaching is the things kids say. everyday is a different day and FULL of adventure! when one of my students was running late for class the kids were trying to figure out where he was; “maybe he was on a play-date” “maybe he was at a birthday party” (at 8:30am). but the best one was “maybe his mom is sick” and to that a little tough guy yells out “what? no way , MOMS dont get sick” i loved that he made it sound like mom’s are super heroes- which we actually are
.
I think that was my most memorable insight of what motherhood would be like. at that time Gabe was only 3 months old. but now its getting to be more clear. Moms can NEVER get sick, not because they are a hero with super human strength, but because mom is the only one in the house (at least it feels like) that can run it! sometimes moms just dont get the credit. i think the dishes, vaccuum cleaners and dirty clothes must be invisible to all males. AND that my little boy can only fall asleep with Mom by his side. Dad can fall asleep anywhere, but sleeps better when mom is by his side too. that turns out to be alot of stuff that falls on the mom’s shoulders.
dont get me wrong I LOVE being a mom, sometimes i just wish there were 2 of me…you agree????
thanks for enjoying this cup of me soup
